| Waltzing Matilda is not a food song imo. I feel the swagman was merely transporting the alleged jolly jumbuck to a more grassy verge for its convenience. The fact that there are no grassy verges in the outback has nothing to do with anything - also imo. For the record I also feel that the swagman was NOT drowning himself - he had nipped into the billabong for a quick freshen up before heading off with the troopers for a nice afternoon tea. He ducked his head under to wash the dust outta his hair and simply forgot to resurface. Yeah... that's it. American Pie is a very long song. Lol I remember my Dad saying that DJ's played it on the radio when they wanted a bathroom and biscuit break. I've read the lyrics to MacArthur Park several times and still don't understand a word of it. I suspect (and I could be wrong) that it was actually an example of Vogon poetry set to music. I chose Blueberry Hill because it reminds me of one of my favourite shows when I was growing up - Happy Days. Richie always sang it on his way out on a date. Ahh food.... one of my favourite subjects. |
