| Just wanted to explain the minor change I made today for the Private Message system. How it worked previously: When you click reply on a message, the entire message you are replying to would be quoted in your reply under the dashed line. Unfortunately, this has resulted in absolutely enormous PM exchanges between two people since the auto-quote grabbed everything. :) I'm sure a lot of you know exactly what I mean! So, to combat this and help give the database some breathing room, there is now a limit to how much text is auto-quoted when you click "reply". This limit is currently 500 characters. You will see a "... [snip]" if text has been truncated. No worries, you can still type as much as you want into a PM and even copy/paste from another PM if you want to answer questions point by point (for example). This ONLY affects the auto-quoting. (As of right now, this only affects NEW replies. I will be coming up with a solution for truncating some of the older PMs as well.) |
