As I stated last week, We want YOUR songs! PLEASE though, don't send more than 2 suggestions at a time.
If you find NEW stuff to suggest, feel free to send, just don't keep sending the same song over and over :) If you wish to suggest music, you must PRIVATE message me directly with the link and the subject line "Suggestion for Music". It would help me a GREAT deal if you would also include the name of the band and the song with your video clip. I am running into removed videos and I have no way to search w/o information included. Also, If you discover I did NOT use your particular clip It's usually because it isn't available, isn't playing properly or has a long commercial in front of it. I will try to search out a good version when this happens.

Theme for next week is "Song Parodies"What does that mean? Someone took a song and decided it was funnier with different lyrics! Yes, that's right. This is a GREAT place to post all those Weird Al Songs you've been saving up!

I am one of those people who normally always likes the "original" best. However there were some great choices here. Never heard of Holy Diver.. was ... interesting. lol. Not bad but not quite my style. Great choices overall folks. I love listening to everything thats sent in.

Hazy shade of winter is one wyv and I have always enjoyed, took forever to find it though. ^^'

An idea for catagories though, how about brooding songs? Those songs that you listen to when your in a drak mood and want to just wallow in it?

How about Best break up songs for a catagory?

I dont usually enjoy cover songs but after listening to these selections, I'm happy to change my mind!I really loved your picks Alex Cinnimon girl was my fave.
KOOL FACT:
I am not attending the festival but we have a civic holiday today here in Canada and the *Festival of friends^ is going on til midnight tonight....The Bangles are performing tonight at 8pm til 9pm live

Cinnamon girl has always been one of my favorite songs, although i had only heard Neil Youngs version, I didnt know that there was a cover of it out there , so glad to be able to find another version :) thank you alex!

I'd never heard this cover of "Kiss" before, and I was surprised (since I don't like the original that much) to find I actually like it! I'm not a big Prince fan, so it's nice to hear the song redone, and I like the Rockabilly vibe it has. :)

"Brown Eyed Girl" is such a classic I don't think anybody could make it sound bad, but Jimmy Buffet's island-y sounds really work well without completely changing the original feeling of the song.

Anybody who's ever seen Shrek (99.99% of the population of this planet) has to love this song. It's kinda mandatory to love it, with the characters bopping around doing the Macarena and Eddie Murphy providing backing vocals as Donkey.

Uncle Kracker is hit or miss with me but I really liked this version of "Drift Away". I grew up on the Dobie Grey version, so I was a little apprehensive, but pleasantly surprised.

I'm sorry, but I didn't make it all the way through the atrocity perpetuating itself as a cover of "Comfortably Numb". I love GOOD jazz and I love GOOD covers of Pink Floyd... that was neither in my opinion.

And just to prove I do love a good Pink Floyd cover... I never knew Korn did a remake of "Another Brick" but I completely LOVED it. :)

OMGOMGOMG! I LOVED this cover of "Music of the Night"! I had another window open over youtube when it first started and at first I swore it was Michael Crawford singing! SO GOOD!

I like Train, so I was expecting good things from "Dream On" and I was not disappointed.

"Jealous Guy" was OK. I prefer Lennon's version, but it wasn't bad.

I was already rather fond of "Hazy Shade of Winter" by The Bangles, so I was glad to see it make the list.

The KSE version of "Holy Diver" has long been a favorite of this household. My hubs introduced me to it. :)

Wheee hehehee :D I love Hazy Shade of Winter no matter which one it is :D *luffs*

Also, I had forgotten about Another brick in the wall. That's an AWESOME song and I think Korn did a good cover of it. I had actually heard that one before. :D

Wow all great tunes! But for some reason most of these songs made me feel really old....lol! I agree with Kid keeper I had never heard that version of cinnamon girl either, i was skeptical but i really enjoyed it! thanks everyone for that trip down memory lane, still feel old tho

How about "Best Techno Tracks" for a category... just a suggestion. You know, the music that compels you to dance (even if you REALLY can't).

Oops! Late comment is late! ^^;

I think out of all of these I loved 'Cinnamon Girl' the best. Never heard the original, but I simply -adore- John Entwistle's voice. It's wonderful, and I haven't come across a song of his I haven't liked yet!

'Comfortably Numb' and 'Another Brick in the Wall' covers were wonderful as well! Great twist on some classics, and expertly done. =) I never knew Korn could produce something I'd like! No offense to all of you Korn fans, of course. They just really aren't my type of music. ^^;

'Black Magic Woman'... Ooohhh epiicccc. Adored it, and it's one of the very few covers in this list I've heard before. Now -that- is a 'good mood' song. I actually felt quite creative while listening to it, and if I hadn't been sick at the time, I probably would have gotten out my tablet and made some pretty stuffs while enjoying it. ^^;

'I'm a Believer'... What can I say that hasn't already been said/will be said? Great cover, brings back lots of great memories, and literally made me squee when I saw it on the list! XD I've heard the original I think, but I prefer Smash Mouth's cover. <3

'Holy Diver', nice cover and interesting music video to go with it! I prefer the original, but a great listen!! Definitely on my list of things to place once more. =)

'Jealous Guy'... I like John Lennon, but I'm not crazy about him for reasons but wow! Brian Ferry did justice to this wonderful song, and I enjoy the cover and the original equally. Great job here, and a nice pick!

'Hazy Shade of Winter' was another that I loved, and really liked the video that went with it. ^^

In general, I looovvveee cover songs. It's so fun to hear what another band can do with a classic! On the flip side, it's great that a famous band can give light to someone that may need a step up, so to speak, to help give them the recognition that they deserve!! <3 I'm so happy that this category was picked ^^

My suggestions for categories:
Boy Bands [Backstreet Boys, NSync for examples]
Girl Bands [Spice Girls for example]
Songs about animals, or other living creatures, not including humans.
Sappy Love songs. [Who doesn't love a good love song every once in a while?!]
New Wave of British Heavy Metal. [Def Leppard anyone?]

AlliraAug 13, 2012 9:32 am
lol - lucky I am happy with my inability to like what everyone else seems to love. I got through about 15 seconds of Cinnamon Girl.
The Music of the Night was ok - but man the clip sucked. How posey are that lot? I was about ready to barf at 1.48 :D :D

Kiss was a bit... horrid.

ok - so I've decided that it's the singer AND the song but mostly the song. Any song can sound terrible with the wrong singer but even a great singer can't make an already awful song sound too much better.
