Hello! And welcome to the 9th installment of "Monday Music Madness!" This week we have lots of great suggestions from our members. The category is "Foreign language songs" so lets get started! It's interesting to see what captivates us in other languages. Most of you sent no extra info regarding the songs so I did the best I could adding a bit of info. If it's not 100% correct, forgive me, Let's start this off with a song from Ashdizzle #1204 Band Name: Selena...."Como La Flor" Como La Flor The song means "Like the Flower" From Mittenmon #71 Band Name :Utada Hikaru...."First Love" First Love From Lukrecia # 2989 Band Name: From the Anime "Lady Bernkastel"......"Image song" Vocals appear to be by Noe Image song This in from Brenne #13 Band Name: Fermin IV....."004" 004 A song about being a secret agent 004 Rat #224 sent us this Band Name: Gackt...."Longing" Longing Time to calm it down with a pick by MrsGunsage #1114 Band name: Katherine Jenkins and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa ( a personal fav of mine too!!)..."The Flower Duet" Flower Song From Allira #8 A favorite Fun song : Band Name: Nena...."99 luft balons" 99 luft balons And from TygressDream #1290 Band name: Final Fantasy X (anime) ....."Suteki Da Ne" Suteki Da Ni Thank you everyone for contributing!!! There were so many this time it was difficult to pick! We will do this catagory again!!! I had well over 100 songs to pick and many there was no working you tube video so it was hard to find them. If I didn't get to yours do NOT be discouraged, there were simply way too many to pick from. Now for my picks: This week are three songs that I love. One is just a fun song the other two have a special meaning to me. Pick #1 from a German medieval folk rock band that uses a lot of the ancient instruments in their music Band Name: Schandmaul..."Walpurgisnacht" Walpurgisnacht Pick #2 From the band Kashtin..The name Kashtin means "tornado" in the Innu-aimun language. They are a "First Nations" band. First Nations is a term that collectively refers to various Aboriginal peoples in Canada who are neither Inuit nor Métis. This song, is a lullaby I grew up hearing played a lot at my house. My Daughter Pick #3 Another Native American Group, Ulali. Ulali, founded in 1987, was the first Native American women's a cappella group to create their own sound from strong traditional roots and personal contemporary styles. They created a new genre of Native American music and inspired the creation of other Native women's groups. My favorite song of theirs "Heartbeat drum song" or "Mahk Jchi" Which is also a name for my puma ;) ( this song was presented on Robbie Robertsons Red Road Ensemble CD) Mahk Jchi As I stated last week, We want YOUR songs! PLEASE though, don't send more than 2 suggestions at a time. If you find NEW stuff to suggest, feel free to send, just don't keep sending the same song over and over :) If you wish to suggest music, you must PRIVATE message me directly with the link and the subject line "Suggestion for Music". Theme for next week "Instrumentals". What does that mean? We all have a song or two with no lyrics, just moving music. We call them "New Age" or "Jazz" "Classical" the music goes by many names but it is a stand alone song, no vocals . Let's see what you come up with! Congrats to: Ashdizzle #1204 Mittenmon #71 Lukrecia # 2989 Brenne #13 Rat #224 MrsGunsage #1114 Allira #8 TygressDream #1290 Also, Last weeks comments were great guys keep it up! Woohoo! Lots of good picks this time! I haven't gone through all of them yet, but I recognize a few. I forgot to mention that "First Love" by Utada Hikaru is a Japanese song. :) One of my most favorites ever, i'm SO glad it got picked because it truly is a classic. Utada Hikaru also sang the theme songs for the Kingdom Hearts video games for PS2. |

Music Monday's excites me so much, whether my songs are picked or not. Adders can attest to how excited I am for Mondays. I am living a TGIM life :D. So many good songs and I'm excited for next weeks theme so much. I can't wait to see what people suggest and what gets picked. So many great songs this week, beautiful ones as well as some great upbeat tunes. Ironically I know 99luft balons by both that name and the English version name. When I worked for my campus radio station we played the english version but sometime before that I knew it by 99 luft balons. Great picks this week. :D |

Lol, I posted a bit too soon. Looks like there were actually FOUR Japanese picks for this week. Suteki Da Ne is one of my favorites as well. Although it IS on the Playstation 2 Game Final Fantasy X, it was originally written by Nobuo Uematsu. I am also a fan of Longing, by Gackt! Great pick, Rat! I was not familliar with The Image Song before this, but i'm glad I had the opportunity to hear it now! It is very beautiful. As for the other songs, I really liked 004. Very interesting, and catchy. Como La Flor was a great song, gotta love Selena! Great pick Ash! 99 Luft Balloons was interesting, I had never heard it. And lastly, probably my favorite of these user-picks has to be The Flower Song. What language is this? I KNOW i've heard this before, but I never knew the name...and still don't know the language! BEAUTIFUL song though! As for Alex's picks, I've always been a fan of Mahk Jchi, ever since I saw his Puma who he named after the song. I had never heard the other two, but I really liked them too. German is such an interesting language...and I had never heard of the other one. |

With so many submissions I'm so happy and suprised that mine was one of those chosen! I probably should have waited for my husband to be home when I submitted to give some more information on the song itself ;) I just was so happy that there was a category that I had a song I could not resist. Hubby is watching videos behind me so I'll have to wait until later to listen to the other songs. I am already familiar with a couple of them, and possibly more when I hear them. |
