When You Say You Love Me

Quadricat #74 picked this great song..
Band Name: Sixpence None The Richer

Kiss Me

Kidkeeper #889 sent in this gem from Chicago
Band Name: Chicago
Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns" began as a politically charged, sometimes experimental, rock band and later moved to a predominantly softer sound, becoming famous for producing a number of hit ballads. They had a steady stream of hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Second only to The Beach Boys in terms of Billboard singles and albums chart success among American bands, Chicago is one of the longest running and most successful pop/rock and roll groups.
Listen to You're The Inspiration

And lastly, sent in by Singlerose #145
Band Name : Kenny Rogers
Kenny is an American singer-songwriter, photographer, record producer, actor, and entrepreneur. Though he has been most successful with country audiences, he has charted more than 120 hit singles across various music genres and topping the country and pop album charts for more than 200 individual weeks in the United States alone.

And now for my picks this week..oooshy mooooshy LOVE songs!

One of my all time favorite mushy love songs
Band Name: Scorpions
The Scorpions are a rock band from Hannover, Germany formed in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker, who is the band's only constant member. They are known for their 1980s rock anthem "Rock You Like a Hurricane" The band was ranked #46 on VH1's Greatest Artists of Hard Rock program. "Rock You Like a Hurricane" is also #18 on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs. The band sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
Here now "Still Loving You"
Still Loving You

Up Next, Rolling Stones
First popular in Europe, The Rolling Stones quickly became successful in North America during the British Invasion of the mid 1960s. Having released 22 studio albums in the United Kingdom (24 in the United States), eleven live albums (twelve in the US), and numerous compilations, their worldwide sales are estimated at more than 200 million albums!
Without a doubt one of their all time greatest songs. And a VERY mushy love song to boot!
Wild Horses

And who can forget:
Band Name The Bangles
The Bangles are an American all-female band that originated in the early 1980s, scoring several hit singles during the decade.
Eternal Flame

Last, I had to include this for my parents:
Band Name Badfinger
Badfinger were a British rock band consisting originally of Pete Ham, Ron Griffiths, Mike Gibbins and Tom Evans, active from 1968 to 1983, and evolving from The Iveys, formed by Ham, Griffiths and David "Dai" Jenkins in Swansea, Wales, in the early 1960s. Joey Molland joined the group in 1969, following the departure of Griffiths. Signed by The Beatles' Apple label in 1968 as The Iveys, they adopted the name Badfinger in 1969. The band drew comparisons to the Beatles initially, due to the similarities of their music, and the mentorship of some members of the Beatles.

This song was my parents "special song".. and I've heard it many times in my life and love every note. This one is for you, mom and dad.

Wow...lots of great "mushy love" as my kids call it. Thanks for choosing mine this week. I loved all the winning entries....even though Wild Horses is a fav of mine I still think it's funny that someone would look to Rolling Stones for a love song.

I like all the selections but Chicago is by far my fave pick this week.I love all of thier songs period.

Growing up in the sixties and seventies there are so many bands that rock my world so to speak. The Rolling stones..band formed the year I was born...Beatles late sixties when my musical interests were just developing...Badfinger OMG can't even tell you how many times I played Day after Day to my parents regret in buying me the 45 to play on my record player LOL

During the 80's I was a young mother who barely had time to appeciate the top hits of the record charts. I loved the Bangles though!
Forgive me but, I like mushy love songs :)

Soldier... It's an OK song. Definitely not my favorite of Gavin's but nowhere even approaching bad.

When You Say You Love Me... I think it is almost impossible to dislike Josh Groban. His voice is tingle-inducing and his songs are so emotionally deep. Two thumbs way way up on this one. Good pick, Yam. :)

Kiss Me... Well there is a blast from my past. This used to be one of my staple Karaoke songs back when I was running wild through campus at OSU. Good times, good memories. :)

You're the Inspiration... I know this one is supposed to be a love song but it's always seemed more bittersweet to me. Kinda more unrequited than fluffy-happy-rainbows type of love.

Write Your Name Across My Heart... This one makes me cry. My cousin and her husband used it as their first song at their wedding and she put one of his fatigue jackets on over her dress so she was literally wearing his name while they danced. He'd had hers tattooed on his chest a few weeks before the wedding. He deployed right after their honeymoon and we never saw her without that jacket again until he made it home.

Still Loving You... Interesting. Not sure if I liked it or not, per se but it's always interesting when something sounds that atonal. I'm guessing it's in a minor key?

Wild Horses... Gotta love the Stones. Not my favorite of theirs, but they're just so iconic and talented overall that you almost have to consider their entire body of work when you listen to a single song.

Eternal Flame... I love the song and I love the Bangles but this poor song has been so abused and turned into such a parody of the 80's in general... you just can;t hear it without shoulder pads and huge hair springing to mind. The only one I can think of that got worse treatment is Venus.

Day After Day... Such a classic. :) Another one that it's impossible to dislike.

I love the Scorpions and the Stones but, I absolutely love the Bangles and I'm so stuck in the 80's, lol. Hey, don't laugh because I get a blast from the past whenever I jump in my car and all my radio plays is the 80's.

It's amazing how the same song can be sung by two people who are so.... opposite each other.. and they can make the song their own. That's what good about music - it's open to interpretation - it can mean something different and special to the one who sings/plays it and the one who hears it.

Susan Boyle's version of Wild Horses

Soldier isnt "mushy" enough for me. I like the artists voice - its probably a song which goes well in some kind of context - in a movie or something.

Yeah the Bangles - Im going to love any 80's pop music. I can still Walk like an Egyptian :D

I like Kenny Rogers too - he has such a pleasant voice and his songs always tell a story.
